You guys are fools if you think the bump spot will not change. I will bet there will be 15-20 newbies to Indy this year because of this rule. racers like Alan Mackin with -1.50 rides that now get a free pass at a national event. The bump will go up to right around -1.00 and I don't think that will get you in this year.
Kevin there only pulling out the fastest 8 FS/XX cars the rest get to run in stock at -1.20 to -1.50 with that super soft index. and I think the truck is a dead player with the 4 banger mustang for the pole. Heck the truck is a dead player in the same class as the stick comet with a 302 that went -2.00 under last week down around St.Louis testing.

Never say never so you may be right Charlie. Still, I'd be shocked if we have 128 cars at -1.00 under. Unless, of course we get mineshaft air. Now for the really important question. Who's starting the pool?

I think it will be an interesting twist and fun to boot. Letting the bogus combos shine for a race is better than having them let off at half track and still go way under. ( remember when the "new" cars were doing that? Barf! I would rather see all of the cars run flat out for one race! It won't help our combos or cars, get in, but it will be cool to see. There are some real fast cars that are well tuned and driven and not "bogus" that can show off a bit as well.
I do hope that there is a bigger dance floor in tech, however! Bring your gaskets! LOL.

I want to gamble on that 1.00 under bump spot. Anybody want a gentleman's bet on that?
I think if you go 1 under you will go home!

Glad to hear it Larry. Would love to see you put an auto in it
and run like 3 seconds under! The -.229 or somewhere in there bomb shell a few years ago in eliminations at Indy with the stick was awesome. Likely while still shaking down
the truck I would imagine....

Oh oops Larry.. I just noticed the auto was factored to 182 hp. 1/1/13....
I look for the bump to be 1.0 at least under with
a mix of FS cars and obscure/ or "favoreable" combos. Most of
the old beat up combos will be left way out.

Thanks Ken for getting this rule put in.
should be really neat !!

Great Idea!!! This is great for class racing.

Class eliminations at Indy this year will be WFO and set up on KILL. Everybody will set up cars for FAST and no wheel racing at the stripe.

I doubt the bump will change. Looking at the last several years I would think that after the top 64 most of those cars are running flat out. The top 32 will be interesting though. If a stick comet can run 2.00 under may be time to build one

Kudos to NHRA!!

How about this scenario? Everyone runs Wide Open and magically the system gets revamped over the Winter with Brand New factors.

No charge for the conspiracy theory.
