There was a starting line problem a couple of years ago Jack was up on the rev limiter about it here on Class Racer can't remember if was the National Event or the Points meet. But it was Etown!
From the info that I gathered over the last few days, it seems as if NHRA was not to concerned about the track for the sportsman racer. On Wednesday there was some type of promotion race for Dodge. They were running 13 second street cars and they tour up the starting line pretty good. There seem to be no urgency getting the situation corrected. I did here them drag the track everyday, but did not see much time spent on starting line. In fact on Thursday, I only saw them spray the track once. I do understand that the track can go away as the days go by, but I can't remember it being so bad on the first day. I knew I would be in trouble, it was just a matter of time before I spun. As I came out of my burnout I notice the starting line was all balled up along with bare spots. I thought I was in trouble, but I didn't think is was going to be that bad. My car went to the left, I thought I could get it back, but it came down on the center line. I was still trying to pull it back, but it was not going to happen, so I just let go into the other lane. I was very happy to be spotting a car, it could have been ugly otherwise. I have lots of photos as does Jack, but the internet connection is very poor. I will be back when the fans leave and I get a better connection. First round for the Showdown was ugly, Every pair had one guy spinning. Not sure what can be done, but its a shame that we have to race like this. Sorry Mike, I have no info on how this class got here or what it is. I will look into it.[/QUOTE] |

It sucks that the S/SS had to race on a crappy prepped track shows how much NHRA cares surprised there wasn't a wreck cause of the bad starting line

I also saw a lot of posts on Facebook about how bad the sportsman pits were, nails, screws, broken glass, etc. in the pit area. I know Tom G. sliced a tire down on the way up to his 2nd TT on Thursday and end up missing the run and another person posted that they had to sweep their pit stall before pulling the car out. I understand that this can happen anywhere and at any track but, your done racing on a Sunday at the track for a bracket race, spend two days driving the sweeper around the pits (And not just the Pro Area) to get all that junk out of the way. I know a lot of people say how great it is to be parked on the asphalt at E-town but, as you go farther down the pits it's pretty rought and could us some love.
