Some people stretch the rules just to see what they can get away with. Just sort of a side game to the real action.
But in the other major league sports, the ones in which millions of children in the country participate in (as opposed to drag racing) look up to all these men and women as heroes. They wear their brand of shoes, wear their jersey numbers, or buy their their brand of equipment based on endorsements. Do we as Americans as a whole want our children to grow up thinking that steroids or other forms of human growth hormones are the way to go? Will parents look the other way if their teenage son suddenly starts bench pressing 150# more than everyone else if they think it will mean their child will become the star, or may increase their chances of getting a college athletic scholarship? It all comes down to character

Ed,
Michael Beard was being sarcastic. Click on the "quote" in his post and read the very bottom. The last line apparently didn't come through on the actual post but can be read in the quote, in your post, but only before it's posted.

Naw, I did that on purpose. In video games, they refer to that as an 'Easter egg'. I didn't want to make it any more blatantly obvious than I had to, that I was being sarcastic. I hid it as text in a fake hyperlink.... but alas, I was not clever enough for Myron!
How you doin', anyway, Myron? I was digging around on TTI's website today... still considering headers, but need to pay a few bills first.

There are a couple of guys up in Hebron/Newark, OH area who used to run a yellow Pontiac Pro Stocker that was very compe***ive until it blew the hoodscoop off because of an illegal "substance". Their credibility in automotive endeavors has been irreparably damaged by those acts, but they will survive. The aforementioned atheletes that used the performance enhancing drugs (substances) have yet to experience the life-shortening impact consistent with their use. Steroids and other growth hormones were developed to speed-up or enhance the function of innate human healing processes to allow those with various maladies to enjoy a modicum of normality. The "side-effect" of the euphoria is over-taxed organs. I personnaly had a friend so obsessed with winning "Mr. Universe" in bodybuilding compe***ion that molded his body via the use of anabolic steroids, and starving himself, died at the age of 38. The autopsy revealed that his kidneys, pancreas, liver, and heart appeared to be that of a 75 year old man.
There's no such thing as "a free lunch". Last edited by Roger K Fain; 12-22-2007 at 01:00 PM. |
