Charlie seems to get down the track every run. 6.80 round 2 of qualifying. They are sneaking up on 'em.

So Wescott runs a 6.80 on Fri. , which NHRA promptly drops on Sat. and an 8.67 gets in the number 16 spot on Sat.
How f'in dumb are the NHRAs rules anyway? The rules as they used to be were better. No wonder outlaw 10.5 , and various other sanctioning bodies do so well..........the NHRA is truely a band of idiots. |

My understanding is that until Saturday only the first twelve postilions are qualified.
This is to compensate for possible "mine-shaft" conditions during runs earlier that do not exist on Saturday. Before this was changed, for example say a car could have run 6.70 in the air on Friday but shakes the tires on both runs. Then on Saturday the DA goes from 200 ft to 3000 ft. and the car can only run 6.80s. and the bump for the top 16 going into Saturday is 6.75 so he does not qualify Several years ago they changed the rules for the pro cars/bikes. Now the car gets a more even playing field to qualify for the four additional spots that now become open on Saturday. My take on how it works, anyone feel free to make corrections. Bill |

You are correct Bill, Friday night session was the reason behind this rule.
