Thanks to everyone for the great pics and reporting. Sorry to see Bucky's car bent up, but your work ethic is seldom seen in todays world.

I would like to thank all the racers who had the patience and dedication to survive NHRA's lack of love for it's sportsman, for the great reporting and photos from all the photographers out there such asPatsy Hill, Ken Miele, Arvid Svendsen, Dan Williams and so many more on Facebook, you all help us at home who couldn't make it. Thank You.CR

I heard it was .003 on the stroke, to big.

Here are some shots from the showdown, it was a very hectic on the starting line and it was hard to get good photos. Chris Holbrook ran very impressive 8.234@165.17, no other cars came close to running with Chris. The starting line was torn up pretty good, they did drag the track, but as you can see from DRC, a few cars did have issues with traction. What struck me when I was up at the starting line, was how many of the pros were watching the Showdown. The were lots of people in the stands, and although they were a captured audience, they seem to like the new cars.

It should be very interesting to see what David Barton has for Chris Holbrook, there is no way to call this one, but it should be fun to watch. Anthony Bongiovanni will race Steven Bell, these cars are evenly match, so it should make for a good race.

Number 145 and 146 ran each other first round. Only 3 hemi cars ran first round. Close to an all run field .

So how does this work with the alternates? If you are on the outside looking in do you just pull up to the lanes for first round and you get to run if there is a no show? Is all this worked out in the lanes or what?

Exactly, everyone knows that alternates get in at Indy, many of the AH cars are primarily there for the shootout and attrition and even DQ's open up spots. The hopeful alternates essentially just show up in the rear of the lanes and when the pairings can't be filled because of no-shows they simply bring in the alternates. Most of the time they are pulled in qualifying order but it can get pretty chaotic back there, especially as next classes are called up.
