Anyone worth their salt races to do one thing ~ WIN A DRAG RACE. This guy is like the kids on the losing ball team who all get a trophy. When he gets a real bullet maybe then he can compete.
You can't win if your aren't there.

This is his first entry at an NHRA Pro-Mod race. He has much to learn. He knew this going in.

How many win their first Pro race these days? NONE!

The Haters continue to Hate !
There is another first time NHRA Pro Mod racer there that does not have a TV show or all the attention, Mike Bowman . He also is a long time street racer that came up through the ranks and is sitting at #3 qualifyer.
You can bet your bottom dollar Mike did not know if he could compete but did work on his stuff to be fast enough to think it was possible .
I hear nobody talking all the smack about him and his dream of being there. I don't get why there is so much BS about Chief other than pure jealousy.
How is Chief being there hurting this sport ?

I agree with you Bob!

Also many of current older Drag Racer cut their teeth on the Street back in
the 1960's.

His pit area was indeed packed yesterday and today, I was by there several times. He was out with his fans literally every time I drove by. Big Chief also appeared to have a very modest rig and hauler, like a lot of us 'regular' racers. I don't see how him showing up and trying is a 'joke'....I say good for him!

Think about this Big Cheif could be at yellow bullet. Instead. You think John force racing or any other team would bypass a race you are the Big Dog to go to Indy ?to not qualify ?and you can sell anything. Please check out the yellow bullet manufacturers support. Nhra is missing the boat there midway is like it should be

Rich,
I saw on FB they did a little video of set-up day and said they paid the 'Marketing fee" that NHRA charges them to set up. They literally had a utility trailer probably 6x18 with the midwest street cars logo on it. They were joking how Force & DSR had 52 foot trailers and this is what they have. In the long run though they probably sold more T-shirts then all those trailers combined.

And for all those hating on him....really? I guess you were all perfect angels growing up and never did anything wrong that someone might bring back up 10 years down the road when you race. He said in an interview "It's my truck, my trailer, my car, my motor, I build it, I tune it, I drive it"....boy sounds like the old days of Nitro classes when they were fun and before everyone bought a ride and flew into the track and filled the fuel tank and sat in the lounge. We should all embrace this because as they said on Friday Night that Pro Mods had one of the biggest crowds in history on Friday Night watching them and they stayed for PSB & PS. Normally people who would just be showing up to watch John Force or Antron Brown now realize that "Hey, there is more to racing then just TF & FC" because that's what fans think it is anymore and what is advertised to them. We should all embrace this rather then fight against others, we can't change it but, look at positive ways to make it better. If we keep putting everyone and everything down, in 15 years we'll all be saying boy it sucks we don't have a place to race anymore. What I saw at Cecil County yesterday for the YB Nationals everyone should take a note pad and pen. The place was PACKED WITH PEOPLE and I've been going to CC for 30 years and parked in fields I never knew existed in that place and it cost me $25.00.....not $60+ for one day and there was well over 8,000 people there at a small down home track (Honestly thats why so many people are standing on the line....cause there is NO OTHER PLACE to stand or sit). It really felt like back in the 1980's when you went to a NE and the place was packed and people were having a great time and BBQing and drinking beer. Now 1/8 mile racing is really not for me but, I went as a racing fan and I saw a great show put on by Jim and his crew.

Several years back, we had one of our SW Drags events at Speedworld.
We had a nice deal.. 200 race cars, including 20 or so S/SS-ers and about 1000 spectators.
That evening, the track had booked in the Pinks TV show event.
As some of our people were leaving, others started pouring in for the big "show". They filled all the grandstands and were 4 deep at the fences in lawn chairs. I would have killed to get that kind of "gate".
A friend asked me.."Where did all these people come from? " Why don't they come out like this for our deal?
I just told him..National TV exposure, my friend.
I never knew too much about this guys until it came up here a few months back, but trust me, as a part time promoter, I get it.
