He's not last on the qualifying sheet and making gains every pass. And... the crowd around his pit area is probably bigger that any other racer on the property. I heard that traffic control had to assist him just to get to the lanes for Q2.
He DID stop at scales and fuel check on his first run. I was told his fuel did not pass because the alcohol he brought from home had water in it. He bought new alcohol and passed fuel check on the second run.

Thursday and Friday there was a line in front of the Midwest Street Cars trailer, a small trailer. Shawn Ellington ( Murder Nova ) was selling shirts, talking to fans, and taking pictures with them. I stopped in when he came out for pictures and listened to him talk to the people, nice guy, seems to get and appreciate the thing they got going. There were more people at their trailer than all the other trailers combined that I saw.

Does any of this relate to Stock/Super Stock? Maybe. If you look at two shows, PINKS and Street Outlaws and how they became popular its obviously TV exposure. Now I would never, although I know very few of you, expect anyone on this site to be involved in the fake drama **** on those shows. But there could be a way to start exposing S/SS on TV like the show after the national event two weeks ago. Maybe some of the racers here that know promotion could create an idea to sell to Pullin or the Discovery Channel guys. That said it would still have to be aimed at a younger crowd

Who better to have a racing reality show than the Bartons and Charlie Westcott Jr.

I would think a guy trying to run ProMod with a real Pontiac engine, very limited in cylinder head compared to all the others, would actually have something in common with Stock and SS racers.

In the long run though they probably sold more T-shirts then all those trailers combined.

And for all those hating on him....really? I guess you were all perfect angels growing up and never did anything wrong that someone might bring back up 10 years down the road when you race. He said in an interview "It's my truck, my trailer, my car, my motor, I build it, I tune it, I drive it"....boy sounds like the old days of Nitro classes when they were fun and before everyone bought a ride and flew into the track and filled the fuel tank and sat in the lounge. We should all embrace this because as they said on Friday Night that Pro Mods had one of the biggest crowds in history on Friday Night watching them and they stayed for PSB & PS. Normally people who would just be showing up to watch John Force or Antron Brown now realize that "Hey, there is more to racing then just TF & FC" because that's what fans think it is anymore and what is advertised to them. We should all embrace this rather then fight against others, we can't change it but, look at positive ways to make it better. If we keep putting everyone and everything down, in 15 years we'll all be saying boy it sucks we don't have a place to race anymore. What I saw at Cecil County yesterday for the YB Nationals everyone should take a note pad and pen. The place was PACKED WITH PEOPLE and I've been going to CC for 30 years and parked in fields I never knew existed in that place and it cost me $25.00.....not $60+ for one day and there was well over 8,000 people there at a small down home track (Honestly thats why so many people are standing on the line....cause there is NO OTHER PLACE to stand or sit). It really felt like back in the 1980's when you went to a NE and the place was packed and people were having a great time and BBQing and drinking beer. Now 1/8 mile racing is really not for me but, I went as a racing fan and I saw a great show put on by Jim and his crew.

Anyone worth their salt races to do one thing ~ WIN A DRAG RACE. This guy is like the kids on the losing ball team who all get a trophy. When he gets a real bullet maybe then he can compete.
Bruce, try going over to the pro mod pits and tell this to the 17 drivers that did not qualify! Then on Monday tell the 15 losers in eliminations.

Do you always post such rancid ideas?

Yes. I do. Thank you. Rancid is one of my favorite nouns. Your reply doesn't even rate a "nice try." What does 15 guys who were closer in qualifying have to do with someone who knew before they spent their money they wouldn't be competing. And for you other jousters hoping your toothpick supported replies related, they didn't. When you have TV on your side you can sell anything.

Doesn't mean you can win a race.

How many T-shirt buying street race supporters are going to spend a dime with NHRA.

Sure. It probably happened this weekend. Some kid talked his dad into buying him a COPO for Christmas.
