Thanks for the replies. The important thing seems to be how NHRA goes about this in a tear down. I wondered why the specifications include the gasket thickness.

Hi,
Just adding some info............................ Measure used and prior compressed gaskets when calculating total deck.... NHRA measures the gasket that was on the engine in the area that was compressed......... If you measure a NEW gasket that wasn't compressed you will come up short on your desired deck height..... Gaskets will compress a bunch..... Just sayin', Bob

Micheal K, Stock only, they also measure on the side of the piston how far down the top ring is on the piston. Tom
