Too much plug gap can sometimes cause a high gear miss,would normally be a fairly soft miss.

I had the same issue . Same box. Changed the coil wire and fixed it. I might add that was not my first guess.

Check for rust in distributor on magnet pickup, I had that problem once. Tom

Coil wire has 8 times the usage as the plug wires. Change frequently.

Agree with Alger.............We replace coil Wire every 4 or 5 times
out on all our Stock/Super Stock stuff.

Would it cause it to jump timing all over the place? My car banged and popped at the launch and barely made it down the track. I checked the timing after the run and the timing was jumping for retarded to advanced. Everywhere but where it was supposed to be.
