The 62-64 Max Wedge cars were by far the most race ready off the showroom floor from the 60s until the 90s. From the lower end, valvetrain, trans, rear and suspension, these cars didn't need all of the bandaids to stay together that others did.

Any of the 1969 350-255hp Chevies - Bortman, Warren, etc. That engine is still being raced a lot today. So many good racers have used that engine in all body styles and models to create a huge legacy. It would easily rank as one of the top ten developed Stock and Super Stock engines in history.
