I've never met Billy. If I did, I don't recall. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. No offense intended towards anyone. And no, I've never run a 340......383 and 440's only. I'll sit down and shut up.

Love Mike Delahanty's pics from the "Live from.." thread with three underhood shots including a small towel over the manifold numbers. Looks like a good approach to me...

How is 'who built what, who is how fast, and who runs what combo' in any way relevant to the issue at hand?

Did the LD340 come on the 340's in question? Answer: No.

End of story.

Oh, but those Edelbrock heads and roller rockers without Chrysler part #'s did come on 340's?? I love purity as much as the next stock eliminator racer but that ship powered by a blown hemi with a powerglide and a 9" sailed long ago!

Gordie, Valid response.
So , the obvious answer is...JUST STOP the changes, NHRA

We still don't know why they saw fit to add a 50 year old Edelbrock manifold to a specific combo, nor who asked for it , or why.
Scarcity of original parts is no excuse.
Older cars have been becoming obsolete since this all started.
Try building a 50 Olds, starting today.

Jacko, Anyone who ever thought about building and/or racing in D-H/S has a stake in this, or as Billy said, anyone who has to qualify against them.

JUST STOP, NHRA

So in the name of fairness and a level playing field, is the same effort going to be put forth to rein in all the past changes and enhancements for other combo's in the guide that are being put forth for this intake manifold??

You want NHRA to stop the changes now in the name of stock class purity, but we both know that NHRA couldn't give a rats *** about the purity of Stock Eliminator as proven by the last 9yrs..its all about the $$$. Would seem to me that Stock Eliminator should be re-named to Stock Appearing Eliminator.

I don't know much about it,but it seems that the "Pure" Stock class may be some people's best bet.

With all do respect but MOPAR has had advantages over other makes for years.

Specific to the 340 they came with stamped steel shaft rockers the Crane aftermarket rocker has been legal for a loooong time. Way way better than stud mount rockers with or without the Crane part.
What is the roller rocker upgrade for the 340? Jesel?

If the cast iron and aluminum manifolds flow the same out of the box are the wet flow characterisitics the same?
Aluminum is a lot easier and cheaper for undercover work.

I have not defended those things, either.

So what is the point of Stock Eliminator? You can't even call it "Factory-Appearing Eliminator" anymore. It's a farce. Apparently people are content to fiddle on the deck. Sad.

I'm surprised no one seems to want to JUST STOP it, NHRA.

Are there a few more personal agendas that need to be slipped through first?

What's the latest "safety" item needed?
