I thought it was automatic dq when you lock em up in the lights and smoke the tires??????

This has always been a problem as far as a black and white ruling. Excessive braking near the finish line can turn catastrophic in a heart beat. However, with skinnies on the front it doesn't take much to lock them up especially if your brake bias is off. Without a doubt, several racers have experienced this, locking up the fronts that is.

Locking up the rears first is harder to control .

A properly adjusted proportion valve helps that.
I have been warned at the scales that I smoked the tires at the finish line. Did not realize I had locked them up. Learned to be more careful.
