A correction on my comment below about Alleggruccii giving away the race. He lost a driveshaft the previous run and as he got towards the end of the track he felt the vibration again and lifted to make sure the car didn't lose a driveshaft again. Jonathan I apologize for the incorrect comment below.

Update from this morning.

Super Stock class was entertaining as usual. Cool temps but a pretty stiff headwind. Still, most cars picked up 3-5 from yesterday.

First round of Mopar Hemi Challenge underway. So far winners are:

Kent
Comella
Mantas
Yantas
S. Hebert

That's the good news. Bad news, Hebert had a single run and left a river of transfluid./oil behind his car. I'm counting at last 25 Safety Safari workers cleaning up the mess but we're going to be a few minutes.

Hebert runs a liberty it would be gear oil. Haven't seen a liberty leave gear oil on the track in the 11 years I've been racing.

He had heavy smoke out the headers. Motor let go and he coasted down the groove and never got over ! BIG MESS

Folks, I certainly had no idea I was leaking. Simply thought I had a deadhead shift at 1-2. Motor was at idle with oil pressure when I clicked it off. Was trying to coast to the first turn RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!! Got to sign some NHRA paper, that's a first.


Clutch experimentation ruined that motor. IF I ever run the car again, it will have diapers and radios. Cannot believe we have steering thru an engine. That failure in the traps, I would not be typing. The E-RACER

An interesting observation- at the conclusion of Round 1 of Super Stock, there was a mass exodus of fans from the grandstands and golf carts back to the pits as Super Gas was ready to run
