Aluminum in the El Camino with zero questions thus far. Painted black one probably could not tell from factory.

I went with the champion for my build... super nice radiator and they were great to work with, I had them replace the ends with AN fittings. They also have a nice shroud.

Ken,

I ended up going with an aluminum radiator from DeWitts for my 71 Nova. I ordered it painted black. They make a nice product and it fit well with my factory hardware.

According to NHRA Rulebook, Stock classes:

"Full size radiator mandatory for body used. Aluminum radiators permitted; must retain stock dimensions and appearance. Cutting, denting or elimination of any body, fender, radiator or grille panels prohibited."

Basically, this means that a top/bottom tank (vertical flow) radiator cannot be replaced with a cross-flow radiator and the hose inlet/outlet located must be in the original configuration. Most cars were available with heavy duty radiators, which typically had additional rows of tubes, therefore I don't think that there is any restriction on the thickness of the radiator core used.

Main thing it's not a round track or street car so you dont need the 3or 4 row core , so a 2 row should work wright . The cost is very different between different makes so is it a quality thing or paying for the name ?
