5.13 gear is what we run unless going to Denver......

We ran (carefully) Mirada for a long time (Now belongs to Bakersfield
Track Manager who won class at a Nationals this year with the old Girl)
with a very expensive/trick 8 1/4 Paul Rossi built.
It held up well.....But we kept our fingers crossed !

BTW it is still in the car to this day and racing. Again = Gears
past 4.50 are no longer available and that is not enough gear
for a 3500 lb. plus 318 Stocker to be very competitive.

i just want to be clear with your statement. When you say gears above 4.5, you are talking about the 8 14"

Correct David: It is the 8 1/4 that is ratio challenged,,,,, I get
less clear every year and often confuse myself too!

Larry Shepherd said at a Seminar in mid 70s that Mopar saved
around a dollar when the went to a 8 1/4 over a 8 3/4.

Thanks to everyone for their input, I have my eye on a complete 8 3/4 rear end on Craigslist. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend, Craig.
