Fred had a competitive 4 speed stocker( ran a rock crusher I
believe), Barney had a Pure Rocker, but when the BHRA disbanded,
(Bedrock Hot Rock Assn.) Barney had nowhere to race, so he went
wildlife racing, with an Impala I believe.

Since women weren’t yet racing, what did Wilma and Betty do while the boys were at the strip ?

It wasn't that Barney had no where to race, he was caught using Naturally Occurring Swamp gas (NOS). There was suspicion after he was seen with red bleary eyes and severely blistered feet. He was kicked out of the BHRA about 2 weeks before it was disbanded. Prior to that he was caught using some sort of timing device known as a Ptero box made by Pterodactyl innovations. Not sure how it worked but he got caught after running several dead on passes even though his opponents broke.

Jus' clearin' the air.....
