Default Re: New FS/XX Cobra Jet

Nice ride, but I'd look for a new name. X-15 is a museum piece and is no longer in service. It was carried to launch altitude by a hulking jet bomber and dropped to fire off it's rocket engines. Really fast for it's time but not a great metaphor for a killer drag car.

Cobras are among the deadliest snakes due to the large quantity of nerve toxin in their venom. Scientists rate animal poisons in a scale called Lethal Dose 50 (LD50) the amount of venom that kills 50% of the lab rats that get it. Maybe Lethal Dose?

EDIT: The SR-71 still holds the world record for man controlled air breathing aircraft.

Dale, appreciate the ideas and thoughtful comments, but >4,500 mph is pretty fast in my book (and still the fastest manned aircraft ever). As old as we are, we like the history and love the metaphor... and one of us doesn't like snakes, at all

P.S. I like snakes
