Mike,
First, with no dog in the fight I must say it was a good read. Great job on the article. Much like the MJ vs. LeBron debates, folks are more likely to hang onto their biases (age, geographics, scoring rules etc etc) then to admit the latest is the greatest. Personally having grown up around the sport in the 90’s in D1, you’ll never convince me that this dude is better than Biondo, Fletcher, Richardson Bros (and I’m sure I’m leaving a few out with no disrespect intended). However to support your case, numbers don’t lie, and now especially more than ever, their simply are less “ducks” in these fields as everyone’s programs have stepped way up (see golf as an example sport) Great debate topic for sure ..... |

I won't be throwing any names out there, but it seems that west coast-based might be an advantage. Weather and schedule/travel are the factors. NOT saying Lamb or the others are not great-they Are!

The recency and age biases are strong in this thread.
My short list exclusively for Stock/Super Stock would be Biondo, Fletcher, Helms, Taylor, Lamb. There are a large number of very accomplished racers who belong in a tier just below these names.

First thought was no way. But after reading the article and seeing the numbers if not the GOAT he definitely is the hottest racer in Stock/Super Stock right now time will tell if he is the GOAT.

I think that Mike Walters was Top 10 for ten years running all while doing so out of Div. 3.

For sure the best out there is Dan Fletcher and David Rampy. All of the others mentioned are great drivers but not in the league of Fletcher and Rampy. Not sure if anyone mentioned Jeff Taylor. He is for sure a great driver and engine builder. Has to rank near the top.

Terminator. end of thread. the best there ever was. Be glad he got preoccupied with other venues besides stock and SS racing. Would clearly be over 100 wins if he didnt take his sabbatical
