(hey Bender, you won't believe this but I stumbled across a "RUST FREE" 71 Vega GT in a container yesterday!!! I'm trying to convince the owner that he doesn't want to put a smallblock in it and streetrod it. I think that qualifies as a flyweight!)

Got news for you all ... I consider my 3200 el Camino a lightweight ... bob bender and I say if it ain’t two tons you need to tow a trailer to be legit 😬

‘63 Olds Jetfire....Hard to believe one lasted that many miles. https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0517-28...obile-jetfire/. They usually ended up parked due to way to many problems. A good looking little car though. F-85 body style. The Pro ET winner nationally this past year has one.

My pick for a fly weight would be a 57 Corvette with the 283 hp fuel injected motor. A natural D car that would go into C at 2717. Not cheap and I don’t know how competitive it would be, but definitely cool!

I have to wonder if NHRA would let you use the alcohol injection? If you look at the Mecum pictures, you can see the alcohol tank on the drivers side of the radiator.

Probably wouldn't need it with the $20 approved fuel ;-)

The turbo cars had a side draft Rochester. Other models had a 4GC.

The suspension is similar to a Chevelle, but the coils are on the trailing arms, like a Fox body.

I doubt anything modern would bolt it to replace the Jet-a-Way (Slim Jim)
Probably could use a later Land Rover block that might have the B.O.P. pattern.

You're (of course) right about the carb. Same as turbo Corvair, wasn't it?
As far as the alcohol injection, didn't they inject it into the turbo to cool it?!?

Looking at the pics, I guess they inject it into the carb..
