Lucas, like some others, require you to “buy in” to qualify each year as do some others. I don’t think they care if you drink it as long as you bought enough product each year. Many contingent items are like that. I think it gets tricky when they pay and don’t require proof of purchase. This used to be crazy when more contingency was paid out. I wish NHRA put as much thought into expanding advertising opportunities with companies to enhance the contingency program as they do looking for ways to not pay. They don’t understand racers or businesses. There is a lot of opportunity to improve the program. NHRA only wants big big players and then they suck the value out of it for them and they leave.

The way he explained it to me last night is he will win the purse but can't collect any contingency money.
