Rick, I assume he means ET.

I don't think you could really determine who's the farthest under the index. There are lots of cars that can go more than a sec under. But, as all here know, most don't want any hp added to their combo, so they sandbag.

Not many would want to make their car less competitive.

But I AM still interested in the SS/AM deal. For you guys who know, what are the basic rules, which allow them to go quicker than a regular SS or GT car, with a similar engine. Sorry for the infantile question, but I don't have a rule book, & haven't found the answers online.

Here's all I've found online, so far.

" SS/AM 7.50-8.49 pounds per cid '

So, if it's like the old MP class, the small cube high rpm engine has the best chance to be competitive. I still remember seeing/hearing those 283 or? sbc MP engines screaming, right before they popped the clutch, then all the way down the track. I assume they were turning 8000 or more, even back then.

Those cars had tall tunnel rams with 2 Holleys.

I believe J B Clegg, who you mention, held the record for a time. I thought I read it was a B/A type Comp motor. I assume it had "Pontiac" heads on a BBC platform... Is that correct? If so, I think you have to stop at Super Stock, strictly speaking.
Happy New Year
