Hey, that's great info ! Thanks !

I thought all the 428 guys were using the NHRA legal alum E-heads. I know that Norman posted that Carroll is building an iron head 428.

Well ya'll, I'll have to tell on myself now. I don't know if I can blame old age, or just lack of computer skills.

But, I was almost thru with 2010 race results, when I had to take a break. So, I THOUGHT I hit minimize. But, when I came back, to continue, that tab was gone. I suppose I accidentally hit the X, instead of the minimize. Anybody else ever do that ?

Anyhow, because of this, from now on, I'll post a very small amount, then edit and add a little more, and so on, til the post is complete. So, when ya'll see a very short post, with only a very few results, just know that the post is not complete, and I'll be adding more to it.

2010

At the Winter Nats, looks like Art Peterson had the only Pontiac powered car on the SS list. It's the only '69 GTO I know of that has been in either Stock or SS competition, this century. If ya'll know of others, please post that info. Back in the day, there were lots of '69 GTO's in competition, especially Judge models, sponsored by Pontiac dealers.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

Looks like Joel Larkin had the only Pontiac on the SS list at the AZ Nats. I can remember lots of races we entered where we had the only Pontiacs. That was just part of it, for us. Just made winning a little better.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At the Cajun Sports Nats, J.B. Clegg showed up with a stick Bird. I suppose that was the 1st year that '74 had run a stick.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At the 4-Wide Nats, Peter was #2 @ - 1.022. Due to info just posted, I assume the engine was an iron head 428. Sal P. was #46 @ -.699.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

Sal made it to round 4, where he left a tick too quick.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

Peter made it to round 5, where he got treed.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At the Spring Vegas race, Don Kennedy was #22 @ -.781. Joel & Ryan were on the lower half of the list. John Angeles was also on the list, driving a '69 Bird. For those who may not know, John co-wrote a couple of books on Pontiac performance & racing. His '69 RAIV Bird was said to be the 1st reg SS Pontiac 400 powered car to dip below 10-flat. His daughter, Keri, was driving on that occasion.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

Ryan made it to the semi, but cut a bad light.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At the Midwest Nats, Greg Meyer was #7 @ -.899. Lynn McCarty was #55.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At Fontana, Keri was #20 @ -.571. Ryan & Joel were on the list.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At Topeka, Carroll was #16 @ -.800.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At Sonoma, looks like Joel Larkin was the only Pontiac on the list. I assume that most Pontiac guys who have raced very long at all, have experienced that.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

At the Mile-High Nats, Carroll was #3 @ - 1.131.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop

Art made it to round 4.

Question:

Below are some pics we took at the Cajun Nats, back around 1978. There was a white SS/K T/A there, wearing "For Sale" signs.

So, does anybody know who owned this car, who bought it, and any of the rest of it's history ?

41 is a div 4 number. Anybody know if John Clegg had anything to do with this car ? OR ???

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2011#indextop

At the Fall Vegas Race, Don K. was #8 @ - 1.031. Robert C. was #9 @ - 1.029. Ryan, Art, Keri, & Peter were lower on the list.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2011#indextop

And Peter won another one !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2011#indextop

At the Pomona Finals, Peter was #16 @ -.845. Robert C. was #20 @ -.820. Ryan was #29 @ -.766. Art & Keri were also on the list.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2011#indextop

So, unless I missed somebody, there were 8 reg SS Pontiacs entered in Nat events that season. They were driven by Keri Angeles Pari, Art Peterson, Sal Piacentini, Carroll Warling, Ryan Schloe, Joel Larkin, Bill Rink, & J.B. Clegg.

There were 7 Pontiac powered GT cars that were driven by: Johnny Duncan, Peter Biondo, Don Kennedy, Greg Meyer, Stacy McCarty, Casey McCarty, & Robert Cruzen.

I may have missed a car or 2. I know that in years just prior to this, John Angeles & Monte Howard were on some nat event Q-lists, as was Vic Santos. I'll look back over recent years, & get names of some I left our here, then edit & include them.

I realize there may be some Pontiac powered SS racers that didn't get any or very much mention, because I had only nat event results. But, beginning for the 2012 season, DRC has results of div races also. And again, if ya'll know of Pontiac SS cars that did good at races I don't mention, please post that info.

2012

At Pomona, Ryan Schole was #26 @ -.718. Peter was #38 @ -.621. Art was #48 @ -.514. Joel was #52. Keri was #55.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Peter broke, in round 6, & had to settle for a 3rd place finish.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

At the AZ Nats, Peter was #17 @ -.764.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Peter got treed in the semi & had to settle for another 3rd place finish.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

OK, since we'll now have results from the Lucas Oil Series div races, I'll try to list them with there div number, followed by a dash, followed by the season sequence number. So, this race will be called the LOS 7-1 race, since it is in div 7 & is the 1st LOS race of the season. In case of rainouts, sometimes the sequence numbers may not be in the correct order. This shorter race ID will require less time & space.

So @ LOS 7-1, Don K. was #3 @ -.925. Ryan was #28 @ -.605.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 7-2, Don K. was #2 @ -.949. Ryan was #32 @ -.608. Robert was #43, & Art was #45.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 4-1, J.B. was #22 @ -.682.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

At the Cajun Sports Nats, J.B. was #61 @ -.636.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 7-3, Robert was #2 @ - 1.001. Don K. was #6 @ -.905. Leo Glasbrenner was #14 @ -.826. Don't know if Leo had Pontiac power at that time, or not. Who knows ? Ryan was #34 @ -.600. Art was #61.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Don K. won that race !

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

At the Spring Vegas race, Don K. was #3 @ -.947. Ryan was #29 @ -.697. Art was #54.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

At the 4-wide Nats, Peter was #63. It seems that for some races, Peter uses the strategy of his rival, Dan Fletcher, by purposely qualifying low. I know this is a Pontiac thread, But since I've been lookin up race results, Dan Fletcher is the name that has popped up, most often, in the later rounds of races. I assume he has an awesome list of racing accomplishments. I'm sure that everybody who has kept up with Stock/SS racing knows about Dan. But, I'm just getting a look at some of what he did. So, at some point, I'll probably do some research & get all the info on his racing career. But, that's for another time, & perhaps another thread. This thread is for Pontiac powered SS cars.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Gonna start skipping a lot of races, unless there is a Pontiac that qualifies well, or one that makes it to at least the semi. @ LOS 3-1, Bill Rink was #6 @ -.980. Stacy was #12 @ -.955. Monte was #42 @ -.800. Greg was #44 @ -.793.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 5-1, Robert was #5 @ -.782. Bill was #12 @ -.668. Carroll was #14 @ -.651.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Robert was beaten by his son, in the semi.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 3-2, Greg was #39 @ -.724. Johnny Duncan was #66.

But the reason I'm including this Q-list is because of the next 2 cars. The 1st is a 1970 GTO, driven by Bill Eadelis. How long has it been since ya'll saw a '70 GTO SS car, before this one ?

The other car is what I think is an SD455 powered '73 auto trans SS Bird, driven by Russ Abrams. I know that Bob Michael & Don K. ran one. Who has run one, in this century ? Maybe there is one, or some, that I don't know about. Those SD455 parts are so rare & expensive now, it's not likely that anybody else will try to build a SD455 powered SS car, in the future. Don't know if any of the GT guys will run one in the future, or not. I suppose that for many guys with enuff money to do this, a rare expensive set of head cores is not a problem. So, maybe we WILL continue to see a few SD455 headed engines on the track.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

@ LOS 1-2, Vic Santos was#12 @ -.851. Don K. was #14 @ -.822. Sal P. was #61.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop

Well, that gets us thru May of 2012. Again, if any of ya'll know of Pontiac wins at other races during the season, please post that info.
