The Burton Family is one of the nicest people you will find at the track; they are also hard working, very competitive and love the sport.
Hard working and competitive people, in addition to winning, will always bring fear to others in a good way. Larry likes to joke, and like many others that race in B/SA, they were glad to see the car gone. As regards to Scott, he is a Ford guy at heart, he used to race a Ford and he is really enjoying his current ride very much. Yes, he also drove Angela Bushmaker's car at one time too. |

It is nearly impossible for my son and I not to
like the Burtons. They always have a ready smile and take the time to say hello and chat. Extraordinary drivers and outstanding mechanical talents! They are always gentleman and unfailingly fair in all our racing interactions with them = "Win or Lose".

"...Scott...is a Ford guy at heart, he used to race a Ford..."
I wasn't aware of the Burtons when Scott was driving a Ford. For anyone who may be interested(I realize most are probably not), here's some Burton Pontiac history, as recorded in the DRC records. Scott shows up at the 2000 Mile high Nats, with a '73 Bird, in G/SA. Claimed a '72, in '02. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2000#indextop In '05, Brad shows up as the driver. The car is listed as a '71, in E/SA. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2005#indextop In '06, they show up with 2 Birds. Scott is driving a '71, in D/SA, & Brad is driving the '72, in E/SA. Remained this way thru '09. Both cars usually qualified near the top of the list, & picked up some class wins. It's interesting to see how much slower the cars were, than they are today. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2006#indextop In 2010, Scott's car is listed as a '70 model, running B/SA. So, I assume that's the 1st year he ran it with the RAIV engine, & ran it that way 'til he sold it. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2010#indextop I assume they have only run those 2 particular Birds, in Stock. But I could be wrong. They may have bought & sold several. Or, they may have built just the 2 cars from scratch. Obviously, I'm not in a position to know. Just going by the DRC records & guessing at the rest. Anyhow, it seems that most everybody thinks the Burtons are good folks, but some MAY be glad the B/SA Bird is gone, for whatever reason. Surely we can all agree on those 2 points. ![]() Last edited by oldskool; 06-23-2020 at 01:18 AM. |
