Indy and Labor day weekend has long been a milestone in the flow of our lives for most of us reading this post.
No matter what other success you have enjoyed in your life the US Nationals is "the" race to win.
This track has been very good to me over the decades and the source of so many of our fondest memories.
By now you no doubt have guessed my answer. No, we will not be going, though I truly wish that were not the case. The reason is because of a simple belief I hold sacred and that is, that no matter how much wealth you may possess, you really have little in this world if you and yours don't have your health.

One alternative is Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa, a MWCR double Sep't 5-6 and stay over for D5 LODRS, Sep't 11-12-13. Great campgrounds for stay over. Fast downhill staging lanes and track.

I think MWCR pays $2K to win each day for $100 entry

I've been racing at Indy for almost 30 years and this would have been my Dad's 63rd year in a row. But the borders remain closed so neither one of us will be going. I'm oddly not that upset about it.

For all of you that decide to attend; I will see you bright and early on Thursday Sept. 3.
Without Class Elims. it won't be Indy in the traditional sense; but it is still Indy, the biggest and best drag race in the world!

Something needs to fill in. Take the few cars entered less pros. Looks like a lot of time to run. Does it take 4 minutes to run a 10 second car 2 times?

Barry go and run 9.80 or better. Don’t hold back as many of u with fast cars saving the index may never get the opportunity again, in the near future. Heck u ran a 9.91 at 118 mph. The DA was great, but I’m sure it will still run well under the index.

Manny Indy is a 17 hour tow for us. That is the biggest problem. Not sure if you understand the difference between Gainesville at 400 feet and Indy at 3400 ft. In ET that's about 3 tenths. Making a 9.80 run a 10.10 run. I was in A/SA in Gainesville. At Indy that would be a slow A car just making the 128 car field last year. It's not my fault the AHFS has stayed the same for the last almost 20 years not keeping up with all the enhancements that have happened in Stock during that time. If you were at last years New England Dragway's Lucas Event you would have thought it was a 1000ft race during qualifying. How about they fix that system. BP

My Indy was the Sports Nationals in Columbus a few weeks ago. I’ll be home and attending the ECSSA races that weekend. It will be the first one I miss in 8 years. Happy for the break. Good luck to all going
