New England's National event got cancelled, the Sportsnationals at New England probably only happened because of that cancellation . We all want a Sportsnational, Hope for it, but don't expect it , especially if the National events all happen in 2021.

My guess is that unless someone else steps up the number and location of the various SportsNationals is pretty much up to Jeg's.

In my opinion that is who should be lobbied on this one.

Its to bad that the division couldn't or wouldn't advocate for this extra race again. Yes 2020 was a hot mess. But racing is racing. But also having 3 to 400 cars show up should carry some weight.

You are also getting back 3 National Events in D1 hopefully for 2021, the SportsNats were added to help aide those who were looking for NE points in D1 since we lost all three Nationals here. Trust me I think if they added the Sportsnats to the schedule with the 3 Nationals on the schedule you wouldn't get 400 + cars and you had a decent amount of OOD Division cars that attended because Nationals were few and far between, Epping is not a track that a lot of us down in the PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA area like to travel too. You also have to look at what JEGS wants to do also, If JEGS isn't willing to be the sponsor of the Sportsnats then the show won't go on. I think they are very happy with the Columbus Race and JEGS All-Stars at Indy but, if we have a repeat of 2020, I could see Jegs jumping back up to put some events together for the sportsman racers so they can get National Event points.

Well, i think if it is done again it should be a 1 race only, and in the middle of the division, and by 1 race i mean no double/weekend, 1 div race and then the sportsnats, Why? well IHRA did the same thing 1 weekend 2 races 1 (saturday) would be a division race the other (sunday) would be the National event. So it all came down to what day you got lucky enough to win. Saturdays winner kinda got hosed....
Again, double divisional races are cool but keep the big races (nationals and sportsnationals) separate and keep the Glory of winning one special!

I think the 2 races at New England worked out really well. Sure saves on traveling costs.

It does save on towing cost for those who wouldn't have traveled there, I wasn't going to VMP until the double was added. It's only 6 hours but, we all know the traffic on the way home is a nightmare....left at 12:30pm Sunday, got home at 10:30 at night...3 accidents on 95 including a 6 car pile-up. The other downfall of the doubles is if you have weather hit like near the end of the race on Sunday, it can be a struggle to find places to fill them in. I mean you saw they had some finals at Maple and others at VMP, I'm sure it's a nightmare for Dave to hope that everyone can make that race for the make-up.
