There is a couple of people out there using the 79 305 combinaton, that seem to have got it working . one is Billy Lynn and the other one is dean . I don,t know they phone # ,maybe someone else might .This could be a start . Good luck on your project .

Billy Lynn doesn't build motors for other people, however he builds a great metric 200 trans. Dean Oliver's motors are built by Jim Lewis.

Don, with all due respect to Gary and you...the most under is not a gage on how much power the engine makes from a specific builder. Also, there is a big difference on making power on a 427 to amking power in a 305 engine.

Don Saids I disagree for sure all motor combinations have Pistons, a Cam, a Crank regardless of combination the rings have to seal and there are very good engine builders out there I Just Like Gary McGlasson Way of doing business and the engines he builds run very good .

I have to disagree with you as I am farily certain NHRA has for as many years as i can remember been adding and taking away Horse Power based on how far under certain Combinations go and everyone knows that some engines are sanbagged of course but The amount of Horse Power is the basis of drag racing In Stock and Super Stock .

ssdi6 by the way who builds your engines ?? And what combination do you Run ?

savoyracer...asking questions such like this are most of the times just confusing..(8 different "best enginebuilders" so far) ..best thing starting up racing would probably be trying to buy an allready existing engine,and/or hook up with someone racing that engine type.I did a research myself amongs racers and other engine builders "who dont have a dog in the fight" who would be the best on a small block chevy stocker...and got a name that hasn't showed up here..yet !

I can see your point. The main problem I have with buying a used engine, is not knowing anything about it other than what the seller says, and some people can be less than honest. I am confident that every one of the builders here are recommended by racers. Hard for me to go wrong with these recommendations. Will call and talk to them, just some basic questions about delivery time, costs, teardowns etc. and then make a decision based on one on one conversations. I would also be interested in the builder that you have in mind. the really nice thing about this site is that I did not know where to look, and now I have some first class choices. Even got a lead on a TH 200 Trans builder !! I would like to thank each and everyone of you that have taken the time to help out!!!

Tom, have they said there will be new rules for 09, and if so, any ideas on what they may be? We are wanting to start racing the car either at the west coast swing or the 09 Winternats. Getting old, not a lot of years left, if you know what I mean....LOL.... thanks Tom
