Perfect. Thanks all. About the advise I was looking for. Now I'll add a little context. I wrench for a living, but prefer when I get to do it for a hobby. I have a history of doing more with less. I try to make 300 laps+ a year, and don't mind swapping hard parts to make a combination more efficient. I was raised by a man that spent 30ish years working for Ford, so I've had a small block or 2 apart. I know what the stripe looks like when the other lane is carrying 50 mph on me (not that I judge it well yet) I love the challenge of tight restrictions and doing it clean. I have one daughter the runs a Jr. And one more starting next year, so running races they are not is a good situation for me. My motorhome loves the freeway, so Nevada, California, Oregon, Idaho and Montana are "short" trips to my family. And if I was looking to recoup my costs with a steering wheel in my hand I'd drive an Uber. Like I said, making dumb decisions for fun for a long time. Keep it coming. I honestly expected more abuse.

Devin I've raced everything from Outlaw 10.5, T/D, T/S, S/C, S/G, S/st and any form of brackets you an imagine. We built a 93 Camaro pure stocker for my son as he aged out of JR dragsters. Had a ball with it till IHRA folded up. I finally bought a mid class NHRA stocker, an I/SA Malibu Wagon about a year ago and now have 2 N cars as we just bought a G/SA Nova. I've run a bunch of Div2, Natty Opens, a few Nat Events, and local S/SS stuff. All I can say is I should have done this 10 years ago!!
We are having a ball. We have met a whole new racing family of great folks. Love the travel. Leaving for Galot in about 1 1/2 weeks then off till Charlotte/Bristol/Rockingham. Don't worry about being the fastest, that will come with time. Get out here and do it! Last edited by KennyAnderson; 07-24-2021 at 09:19 PM. |

OP: Be sure that you understand what Stock Elim is about (has evolved into). It’s not what car you love (as mentioned) it’s about choosing what combo of car/engine/hp rating that the NHRA in their not so always infinite wisdom considers “right”.
Whether or not you’re made bad decisions doesn’t matter. You’ll do a lot better spending $20,000 and a bunch of work on one combo, than you will a will on a combo that NHRA has factored brutally. Frankly, there’s a game being played, and it’s harder to win if you don’t take advantage of the rules. Last edited by Dave Gantz; 07-25-2021 at 12:35 AM. |
