Don't just hydrate with water. You need something else like gator ade or some electrolytes. Just water will cause cramps.

A few years back we were at Bakersfield for a Heritage race. I was running d/g and one of our group was running a/g It was brutally hot and he was pouring water down his throat like there was no tomorrow. I told him get some gator ade or at least some salt tablets. He kept saying he would be okay. Got to the track the next morning and he came and apologized. Said he should have listened to me. He had cramps so bad in the middle of the night he had to call 911. Nothing but water will wash all the nutrients out of your system.
Be careful.

When the locals stay home, you know you messed up. I would give everybody 2 grade points for showing up, cancel and refund entry for second race and maybe have a tow vehicle/ street car gambler or dash for cash on Saturday night so you could race with the AC on. Gary probably just needs to put the belt back on his highly-modified Z-24 for the AC to work again. Also, spectators should be allowed in the VIP suites, should be room in there for all 5 of 'em!

Jerry Stein, William North and Greg Luneack were no shows first round of stock. Did they break, go home or get heat exhaustion? Also two no shows in Superstock and John Irving broke in first round of Superstock. Not easy on drivers and cars.

Did not really break my car exactly

When there was an Oil Down right before our pair = I backed out of the water box
and Jon ran out and opened both doors and the hood. It felt like I was about to pass
out and my cage and equipment do not want to let me get out real easily and I did not
realize the length of time the clean up would take. When it was time to run - Jon did not
get the hood closed correctly and when I left the line it popped up onto the safety latch and I
had to lift.

In Stock not much better = I left holding 7 or 8 Hundreds on my opponent. So much Sweat
pouring out of my Helmet into my eyes that I literally could not see the finish line AND took
over a car length plus at the finish and broke out by a few thousands.
I thought it was raining inside the Demon = I was that darn wet!!

110 Degrees and the heat shimmering off the Asphalt are not for 70 + Racers!!

Were they checking face masks in the pits?

From what has been beaten over my head is that heat propagates the Chinese Virus.

So it gets even weirder. They ran 1st round of stock. Now we take a 5.5 hour break

Doesn't sound that fun John. Glad you didn't break something. Better safe than sorry to skip the second race. Drive safe on the way home.

Highly-modified? My car? That's ROLOL funny! The belt is still on, just a smaller one since my compressor was removed (along with the other power robbers the rules allowed me to remove). However, it's great to know I ran a 15.184 in the morning session today with a DA of 《4k ft., and an air temperature of 88 degrees!
