ok, I dont post much on this site, but I will on this thread,
Myself I do not like where the new technology is going, I wish NHRA would BAN the grid, do away with the automatic electric or air shifters, the MSD boxes that who knows what the secrets inside of them can do, but it will never happen so when your staging and you know you are "old school" and have no bells or whistles in your car, hope for the best, heck anymore you don't even know if the other driver is racing on GPS system. That's my 2 cents plus its even worse in Super classes |

I was the track photo guy at Milan in '66 and raced my parents Mustang once. The time slip was hand written. 16 something. Two barrel and a three speed stick 289 K/PS. Five cars in the class.
I agree that there is too much tech in most classes beyond Stock. I can't find it, but I like the idea of air or electric shift for 1-2 only. It would let me concentrate on driving off the line. Transbrake without a rev limit would make the launch a more driver thing. Use the TB to hold the car but not be able to just plant your foot and have the box set your rpm. Race by ear. I replaced my MSD with a Pertronix box at 1/2 the price. It's smaller but has rev limits for burnout and launch as well as a high safety limit. It can regulate the voltage and frequency of the multispark signal and lets you set advance and start retard. Can't do any of this on-track, buts that a lot of stuff in a small box.
