Looking for some suspension help and keeping the factory 4 link suspension.
Car bottoms out when leaving springs are 200in# factory stuff stock type shock. Should we be looking for stiffer springs or just a stiffer shock. |

With this answer I'm assuming this car won't be used for street driving. I personally have an 83 mustang that I daily drive, but also race from time to time. For one run I mounted a gopro to watch the rear suspension on a run, and WOW was it a mess(bear in mind this is a stick car). Crazy pinion angle, some wheel hop, and a whole lot of typical fox body squat. The only modifications so far is a set of aftermarket lower control arms. In your case, I would definitely get a good set of rear shocks for the car, but would also take a good look at getting some stiffer springs for the rear. I've also heard a lot of people used to run air bags in the rear, but that may be just to maintain some streetability.

I have used this setup with success. Anti-squat suspension. They have several different types including street strip. I think it’s priced reasonably.

All suggestions put out good...what's your price range? $42 Drag Bag $300-500 Baseline Suspension set up (BTW very nice stuff , I run the Outlaw on my SS'er but still doesn't address body roll but fixes IC problems and stock suspension flex issues, $ 260 plus Install for rear ARB (I run a UPR with roller bearings.
A bag will fix most body roll issues but not the rest... FYI I stiffen up RR shock 2 clicks with a bag to compensate for additional spring rate.. Works for me.... your mileage may vary! Good luck!

If I can talk the owner into it I’d like to dial in some anti squat and use the Viking coil overs he purchased.
The car ran a 10.81 @131. W/a 1.88 60’ |
