An equity company purchased majority ownership of Jegs earlier this year but it was my understanding the Coughlins are still involved in operations and the influx of cash was for expansion. Either way, big money talks and having the All Stars on the biggest stage would have to be in their best interest so I’ll leave it up to you which way the NHRA suits will go.
Personally, I buy my stuff from Summit.

In the end we have no say, other than to participate or not. It’s pretty disappointing not to have the old format. The Jegs Allstars is for a few to compete to make their dreams come true.
Class at Indy was the chance for everyone to chase a performance dream on the biggest stage. Now it’s a brief afternoon in front of no one. Quote:

S/SS class runs headsup invented NHRA. Its why the factory Showdown cars are so popular. They'd be even more popular if one brand was not favored monetarily over another and an even playing field was set in order to promote competition instead of handing it over to whoever bankrolls that particularly year. Brand rivalry and S/SS showdowns invented n h r a.
I guess I'm a dinosaur wanting to keep S/SS Class Runs intact, instead of pushing them out of the lime light four bracket racing agendas. Last edited by PONTIAC'S REVENGE; 06-09-2022 at 10:07 AM. |

Last year where we got true Class Elims instead of just a "fastest 2 runoff" was a much better compromise than the 2020 edition. However, I do definitely want to get back to stock on Thursday, Super Stock on Friday for class runoffs like the Indy I grew up going to...
I'm not sure if this can be done reasonably with Jeg's All-Stars in there as well or not (probably not)...but I'm sure there isn't going to be a lot of the higher ups that want to move it now that its there. |

Maybe this is something that our SRAC reps can inquire about

When are you classy racers gonna realize you are not the show. Until you start running Nitro you are just a field filler. One more thing as long as you put shoe polish on the window you my friend are participating in a dial in type race which is the same as a bracket race. Yes you have class eliminations and heads up runs. ONLY DIFFERENCE. The Jegs Allstars is a great honor and deserves to be run at the biggest race of the year. By the way they do have Stock and Super Stock included in that race. Good Luck to all that go and anybody that makes the effort to go Deserves to be there. Hopefully one day I will see you there The Big Go has always been on my bucket list.

I completely disagree with class cars being bracket cars. They are performance cars that can and do bracket race with the caveat that same class cars are heads up. I think that makes them more different than similar. No issues with bracket racing, but the entire strategy of building a class car is different than a non class car. Heck even the Jegs cars have to go through teardown. I recall a Jegs qualified stocker getting bounced several years ago. Car was “fast” when the bracket motor was in the car. Not so fast when the legal one was in place. If Indy is a bucket list item, don’t change it to an all run everyone gets a ribbon even if your car can’t hunt. This isn’t really a racer issue, it is really the executive level management at NHRA having a lack of understanding about sportsman racing. Let’s hope the recent change is a sign that they are listening to their customer facing employees and customers

Indy is the marquee event of the season for sportsmen and pro's alike. No question about it, it's the biggest and most prestigious race of the year and everyone dreams on winning it.
The Jegs Allstars is a major event every year and most sportsmen racers aspire to compete in and win it during their career. Anyone that manages to win it is on top of the racing world at that time. Combining Indy and the Allstars into the same weekend dilutes both events and takes away some of the spotlight that participants and winners of both events deserve.

Why couldn’t the All Stars be held at the fall Charlotte or even fall Vegas race? They get tow money anyway and either would be a venue fitting such a prestigious event.
