Not sure which combination you are considering, but I think the Mopar R5/P7 combo would be a killer in SS/AS, can handle a 4.250" bore and 2.250"+ intake valve with ease.

While there are some of these engines in drag cars I have never seen one in a NHRA class car. I have heard of rumors of Comp Eliminator projects but have never seen one that got off the ground.

There was one that ran on Hot Rod's Drag week that ran very well but was not any faster (in my opinion) than an R3/W8 car that was there.

I always thought he ran a R4/P5 combo, has he tried the R5/P7?
