About time. Bryan Worner would be loving this right now. But to listen to everyone whine about it being a performance based class then to whine when they allow you to run what you want without immediate penalties is crazy. YOU control what YOUR average is no matter what you run. I am sure there are some 350 tpi camaros that wish this was in place when an accidental 1.24 under completely killed the combo that is now a .8-.9 at best combo. As far as the illegal cars running the avg up.....all it takes is money and balls. Put up the protest money and have them torn down and deemed legal. Swallowing your pride does not cause indigestion. Quit whining about it and do something.

As I remember the "Accidental" 1.24 under run the racer was a car length ahead at the 1/8 mile going by incremental numbers. Also said racer ran it out the back door even when his opponent hit his brakes. Not whining stating facts.

Averages just have to go away completely,what have been screwing up AHFS the whole time is that you could play the averages.
They just have to come up with something smarter

It needs to be about Drag Racing and not about playing a stupid game called protecting a combo!

I wouldn't exactly call someone protecting their combo a stupid game. People have a lot of money and time invested in their particular combinations. I don't think I've ever met a stock/super stock racer who didn't try to protect their combo in one way or another. It doesn't matter what structure is in place. People are going to protect what they got.

Oh well. I had heard about the big fix for the AHFS recently.
I have to say I'm disappointed.
I had expected that maybe they would do something to stop all the 1000' runs, like maybe lowering the indexes a couple of tenths.
It seems to me that this will only encourage more sandbagging, and I use the term with reverence. We've all done it, since about the time the FWD cars were added.
Today, lots of RWD combos are about a second faster, thanks to technology and all the goodies added.

I would have hoped NHRA would see this and do something appropriate .

Somebody please tell me how this is going to help much of anything?

That is easy! It reduces the NHRA Tech dept expense for teardown.

Mark all they would have needed to do was drop the index's a tenth. Now in a heads up no one has to worry about going more than 1.20 under. If you have enough cars running your combo it's pretty easy to keep the average under .85 under. BP
