Only met John once, about 15 or 16 years ago, when they brought their great looking Firebird up to the Seattle National event, where I was pitted nearby. The Firebird was blue at that time, and in qualifying, it did a huge wheelstand, and came down hard. Rather than load up and head home, John bought a new pair of front wheels and tires, and got the front end straightened up enough to make the car ready for first round. RIP John.
