Two choices (neither competitive) : 1964 Valiant, slant six, 4 speed or 1966 D Dart for super stock; just a dream.

It's not in the NHRA guide but for me a dream car would be a 58 Plymouth Fury with the 350 Golden Commando engine like in the movie Christine, it's almost identical to the 383/343 engine but a slightly smaller bore and cam lift and factory rated at 305 HP.

Well since a Good friend just sold his 1970 LS6 Convertible Chevelle at Mecum for 480,000 yes Mike is a good friend and yes 480,000 is not a typo I’m stuck changing my SS A/H car over to a 4 speed because that’s all I had to do to make it my dream!

It's not competitive but a 56 Chevy, 2-4's running SS/L!! 66 Chevelle wagon with a BB/4 speed in Super Stock, I don't even know if they made one but it would be cool. 65 mustang 4 sp stocker. 58 chevy 348 4 speed stocker. AMC rambler super stocker.

It did come with a Glide from the factory, I changed to the TH350 when the rule change came out. Best its gone is .280 under in E/SA @ NHRA. I've been running in NMCA lately. It uses the 585cfm Holley. I think that may be hurting it. I do all my own work and R&D so its definitely not the fastest.
I bought it from the widow of the original owner in 1988. I used to street drive it until 2015. If I cant make it work it may go back to that, someday. Its just more fun this way.

A member of our HS Basketball team had a 66 Chevelle SS 396 /325 and it was a glide with console. I think I still have a factory intake for the Holley.

Back in the early -mid 70s, I hung out with a racer that ran 65 Chevys, a Biscayne 2 door sedan, and then an Impala wagon, both with 396/325 combos in Super Stock, and both cars had Turbo 400s. Were the TH400s only used in the big cars in the beginning ? I have also seen early 396 Corvettes with Powerglides. Was a Turbo 400 optional in a SS396 Chevelle in 66, and if not, when?
