Default Re: Best Brakes for Mopar B Body Stocker?

Darcy, are you suggesting for me to leave the drum brakes on it or just not overspend on expensive brakes such as Lamb or MW? It has Wilwood on the front and I believe the matching rears wouldn't be too expensive. I am just not sure if I would gain anything.

The only problem I have personally seen with Aerospace was on heavily bracket raced 4-link dragster I bought about 20 yrs ago. It was owned by a highly accomplished bracket racer that probably used the brakes pretty aggressively and it had warped rotors and hats that I had to replace...

Good advice there from Darcy, on my dakota, went from a 8.75 with drums to 9.25 with strange discs in the back, and I can't notice any performance difference, if anything the drums held better on the line. Assuming that B body has a dana with drums not sure how much weight savings you would accomplish. Those that have done it would be able to chime in.

I'd run it as is to get yourself a baseline, and also get a gauge on the realistic gains that might be possible versus the others in the class........and for what $. Good luck Eric

What I am suggesting is race within your budget, if 8 had unlimited budget I would have 6 sets of Lamb brakes but for that price I can actually buy a car. I started with drum brakes and moved to 4nwheel disc as my budget and as speed increased and I needed more stopping power. You already have Mark Williams if you got the same for the rear then all the spare parts would interchange. I would have to bet you would have a hard time measuring any ET difference between any of the companies when they are new and installed correctly. Sometimes why it seems like your going faster is because your wallet is lighter.
