As for the no one cares comment, I can't argue that a lot of people don't think it's a proper way to race. But in this case, I'll point a finger at the track itself.
I can guarantee you that if the sheets had been sent to Rick or any other DRC reporter, they would have been posted. They are no longer able to cover the expenses of sending someone to every race, but if the sheets arrive, they go online. As good a promoter as Bill Bader was, he never valued media coverage. It was years and years before he ever wanted to provide a place for them to work and publicize his track. I'd heard stories he got upset about some coverage years back but I don't know if that's a rumor or truth. I do know his business theory at the time was to cater to people buying entries or tickets (which he did better than anybody) and he considered media as an uneccesary burden. That view still exists with other operators. |

Well, I looked at what was supposed to be a qualifying sheet in Superstock. This sheet had Dan Jacobs at the top, Johnnie Raikes 2 and David Neal 3. Since someone failed to put the 8.05 index into the computer Ernie Neal II was last. I was # 6 running in GT/K with my 305 motor. Ernie II went 6.89, which never ever showed up on any sheet. They did have Ernie down for the best reaction time for Q1 .003 (who cares). Okay, so first round is a card draw and they ladder starting second round by (best first round package) (where does performance fit into this). They held Ernie II for first round bye, well he stages up both lights on, then tree started flashing reds. He took the run and should not have, but he didn't get a time and was placed on the bottom of the ladder. I lost to son David round 1 as I broke out .003, David lost 2nd round and Ernie II went red in the Semi's
I guess I deleted the horrible qualifying sheet from my phone. Donnie Beeler may have a photo of stock sheet Ernie Neal SS 354 Last edited by Ernie Neal; 09-28-2023 at 07:02 PM. Reason: typo |

I get that results are important, bashing a track is NOT something anyone needs to be doing. Yes, others are highly successful with programs. Others can use some work. To spin things negative has to stop. How many actually realize many of our small local tracks like Ohio Valley choose to stay open. Wake up and realize it's easy to get on the soapbox and complain. Going to support events is another.
Rant Over.... Carry on. |

Here is the qualifying sheet for Super Stock after 2nd round. I didnt get a pic of the Stockers.
There were some fans in the stands at Ohio Valley Raceway. More than most divisional races but they race weekly and I'm sure thats why. We should spend more time promoting this stuff instead of thinking NHRA will do it ever because they wont. I need to start a YouTube channel and start explaining Stock/Super Stock racing because the casual fan doesnt get it. ![]() Last edited by ernneal2; 09-29-2023 at 08:15 AM. |
