No way they can sell all that stuff in two days! Someone is going to get a deal of a lifetime.

"Wow, that's an amazing collection, but sad to see a lifetime of investment get pieced out.Do you know how much they are pricing the cars for?"
all I know from one conversation with the estate sale woman is the vehicles will be sealed bid, and a bank holds the paper on all of them and the bank will be reviewing bids at a later date-she was emphatic no one will drive off in a vehicle even if theya re the high bid, if the money is not enough it will be a no sale and the bank will take another look. As for the Olyenik car haulers I can tell everyone the red truck is a 1976, 20 foot, the cab is rotted away at the rear mounts underneath and the engine has low compression in one cylinder. The Black truck is a 1982 I believe very nice unit-originally purchased by jim Lydon (PGH Hemi racer) with an automatic trans and 454. It currently has a 502/clark overdrive manual 5 speed/motorhome 70k rear axle with big disc brakes and a million other little things done by a man who LOVED his Chevy trucks. I have a lot of knowledge about what is there, and I also do not know a thing about a lot of what is there. I am flying in Thursday and can hopefully help a little at the sale, as it appears I know more about everything there and the man who owned them than everyone else-others (local) who knew anything died before John

A lifetime collection of parts and cars but it has little meaning other than $ to those left to handle our estate when we pass, it’s just stiff and it’s sale part of life.

I commend you Scott for helping the family and fellow racers who might give parts of the collection a worthy home. Contrary to 660Ed’s opinion I wouldn’t dismiss John’s passion as “just stuff” and “little meaning”.

Very cool lifetime collection of cars and parts. you can tell by watching the video that he saved everything. I was amazed by the collection of NOS blocks and heads. Lots of tools and equipment. Shelves of Richmond and DNE type transmissions. I did not know John but knew of him.

John always had really cool cars! I remember the first time seeing the COPO at Columbus. He blistered the tires on the line and still went 9.44&144!

These two Olyenik Haulers will be offered at sale
a couple Olyenik haulers being sold-the Red truck is a 1976, 454 4 speed manual, 20 foot body, sleeper, red interior. The black truck is a 1979, 22 foot body, and has a 502/clark 5 speed manual overdrive and a 70klb rear axle with big disc brakes, 19 inch wheels all around. Red truck is 15k black truck is 25k. john was a dear friend of mine and I have a lot of knowledge about his operation and specificlly these trucks and while I have no financial interest in any of it, I will be on site for the sale this weekend to help answer questions

I come a hair going to this being it was close to me (163/miles). Was really interested in the ZL1 stuff after watching the video several times.
So let me understand this. They hadn't even opened the door yet and an individual that was one of the first 30 in line made an offer before any item was sold? Did He/they just shout out a number? Maybe someone that was actually there (maybe even standing in line their self) could elaborate....... If not, I completely understand. |
