I change my diesel oil every 7000 miles. That said, I’m sure you will get 100 different answers. Maybe best to Google what your engine and manufacturer recommends and go from there.

What Keith said, I always used Rotella 15W-40 but opinions vary wildly. Just be sure to change the fuel filter every other oil change. The Cummins 5.9 is an awesome workhorse.
