We used the Mexican Blocks with Block fill .060 over is about max

Early blocks prepped this way are good to +/- 500 HP

The beefy aftermarket stuff is way to heavy and is overkill for the HP

A4 about the Best but hard to come by

The Later Ford BOSS blocks are good for the weight but $$

I have a standard bore BOSS service block I may be willing to let go

Good Luck!

On the original Ford Boss 302 blocks are all real good EXCEPT THE D0ZE-A it is not a Square Bore casting don?t try to over bore the 4.00 inch! Others will take a 4.060 bore!

The early 302 blocks like 1968 are better sonic wise than the later blocks. Don't believe anything about the Mexican blocks other than. They have the hipo main caps. You can also just buy the steel main caps and install them. Definitely fill the block. Also neutral balance saves the block. Rule of thumb is 500hp and 8000 rpm is the limit on a std 2 bolt block. For the price of an original Boss 302 block you can buy a Dart

Dart is legal, but if it's a Stocker I don't think an aftermarket block is worth the $$, work/effort to get accessories and headers to fit or the extra +30lbs. You'll be well under the 500hp and 8K RPM range which the early blocks are plenty good for.

It is if you want to get to the .070 over bore! Then use .060 offset cylinder head dowels!

I weighed my Mexican block today. Bare block is 126 lbs with caps.
