I don't think Empire has ever been NHRA. They seem to be neither IHRA or NHRA over the last couple years. I do hear rumors that Empire is considering IHRA. We will see. Ray

I?ve never raced at Empire, just no reason too but I have raced at the otter tracks and would never put either one of my cars on the track at Beaver.

MIR or US13 would be good places to host an IHRA/WDRA event if/when the day comes. I believe MIR used to host IHRA Pro-Am races back in "the day." I was there for the first time this year. Definitely will go back again. I've heard good things about US13. "The Beav" I have mixed feelings about. While it is a neat old track that I've been to quite a few times, the starting line is usually pretty good, and the owner and his son are real nice people, I would like to see a barrier at the edge of the racing surface, rather than having a pretty wide section of grass, and then a guardrail.

If you have not been to Empire in the last 10 years you are in for a treat! Recently when I attended a CanAm race their I pitted on asphalt! Significant improvements in all the buildings, concession stands and track. This place is easily on par with Division1 LODRS tracks. Not sure if they have enough space for a national event. I have never seen a track with more shutdown. This would be a great place for the fuel cars. Ray

Exactly, why I won’t put my cars on that track, and not just a guard rail which have proven to be killers, jersey barriers or it’s a no go for me.

MIR is fast and we always seem to go lots of rounds there. So obviously we loved racing there and eating crabs! We also bought a bushell of soft shells on the way home!

Same here. But the thing that sticks in my mind was that the fast cars could not get stopped before the last return road turnoff and had to turn around at the end of the track and drive back towards the starting line to be able to get to the turnoff and leave the track.
I know it sounds like an accident waiting to happen, but the staff was on top of things and I never saw even the smallest problem. A very memorable place to race. |

I haven't been to Empire in over 20 years. My only problem then was the dust. Ray said that they have made many improvements. I'd definitely try it again.
