Dean, Not really a gray area.
According to the braintrust in Glendora, anything that has a computer i.e. EFI can use internal solenoids.
That would be 3rd gen Camaros with EFI. But what about feedback Q-jets? They have and electric enrichment system and a TPS..Gotta be a computer hiding somewhere there.
But hey..What about a 78 Caddy Seville? Yup ..EFI .78 Coupe Deville 425? Nope.
Almost forgot the 57 300 D Hemi EFI? Yup
You see where this is going? No research or forethought .
The rule should 95 and newer 4l60E , which had solenoids and is programmable with HP Tuners, etc . The Camaros, Vettes etc. came that way.
Yes , you can retrofit a 200 trans, but this is about as close to what should be legal.
