and why would the 4cyl turbo be in a different class than the V8? it was still a stock option for the mustangs.

Because it was only available in the 84-85 SVO, not in the 88 notchback!!!

so why couldnt i run the car in a modified Super Stock class? its not a honda, or any kinda import, so i dont see why it would be modified compact as it is still a mustang.

Modified Compact class was merged...the only class you can run your combination in Super Stock is SS/DX class. Minimu weight would be 2100 lbs., the index is 9.35, the record minimum is 8.85. It would take a lot of power and money to go that fast.

I have read the rule book, 2007, but i dont see anything about the turbo cars.

Look at the SS/MX class in page 172 of the rule book.
