Has anyone thought about the safety aspect of pedalling and braking a high HP FWD at the top end to keep from breaking out (ie. torque steer or loading and unloading the large low pressure front slicks during braking and pedalling).
I personally do not know, but it is worth some thought. Bill |

I highly doubt this will happen as a index class. After looking into stock/super stock class rules for lets say a mid 90's neons and transfer them to a honda civic would require tons of information be to attained by NHRA, engine specs, cam size, pistons, combustion chamber cc, and weight for all of the variations of sport compacts would be immense amount of data to be gathered. Let alone the approved pistons, header, head castings codes would then have to be added to the above listed information.
Along with the basic class rules the electronics would have to be address also, most sport compact run electronic such as in car widebands, dataloggers, 2 steps, programmable ecu's. I looked into what I would need to run my car and there was pages of guidelines for dodge neon chassis so all of those specific rules, part numbers, approved lists would near to be compiled for just my 1991 CRX alone. I am realist and I doubt it will happen. If the class is just a open bracket I could see it working but from the structure I have seen that isn't going to go over well. I would love to go race in that series but get my car which is very simple to fit current rule would take a full overhaul and would require a set of rules to be released by NHRA in the near future. |

Steve they created a special class for the All Motor cars of the sport Compact Series. Which means they run with their rules in the Super Stock Class.
As for the electronics, if i am not mistaken all the electronics you have referenced are currently allowed in Stock as well as Super Stock. Bill |

Sounds good, I am just interested to see what and how they would set index. Currently my car would fit as I read it in the DF/S with a index of 15.90. I am very close to allot of rules and nearly 3 seconds under the index, which I guess is a good thing if I was allowed/supposed to be in that class. I guess the sport compacts will be in their own little class and they will figure it out. Should be interesting, hope see you guys out there in 09.

The last thing I would want to do is come in and race in the wrong class/ wrong index ect, and disrespect the heritage of the class and the guys who have been working on their setups for year. I don't think there will be a huge "import invasion" due to the drastically different rules between current import racing and these NHRA index classes. These cars have a ton of money invested in them and I don't see them removing 80 percent of already owned parts in order to comply with the rules. Its just two completely different worlds right now.
