John
Get a copy of the instruction manual from TurboStart about their batteries.
It explains why you should have TWO 16v batteries instead of one on cars without an alternator.

Does anyone run just one battery and have enought amps to make it through the hot laps?

Couldn't find that info on TurboStart's web page. Do you have a link?

I just made the change from dual Optima yellows (the biggest) to a single Performance V 16v. Have not tried it yet. I found the Optimas were a major pain to keep charged and maintained at the track. That's the biggest reason I made the change.

Mr. Schenk, if you think about it thats why I'm low on cash ! My wife is the other reason, she said that i should tell the battery poeple at that price they are out of there #@*&#! mind, and she's a nunn. I do believe i'll go with the 2 16v , Thanks a lot ...........John Lang

I read it today and what they mean is that many replace 2 x 12 volt with one 16 volt and forget that they dont have more amperage just volts, the 16 volt battery will give no varning like slower running starter when its low,it will just quit, atleast thats how i read it,so if you drive it to the lanes and back and dont have an alternator they suggest 2 batterys just like you would with 12 volt battery's!

That's true. What I did was borrow my buddies amp tester and tested everything electrical on the car while running. On my car the total amperage is enough for one 16V battery. Or so the theory goes...

To all of you guys that answered my questions such as Kenny,SS/JA, Alex, and who ever else, cause i forgot all the names, I bought 2 16v TurboStart S16V batteries, right or wrong i got a deal and i hope i did the right thing! I guess the reason i went with the 16v is i didn't want to hookup an alternater. Thanks for all the help, and i'll let you know the end result.................. Later ,John

Anyone with known issues on EFI cars running 16V batteries - along the lines of supplying too much voltage to the ECU?

Cool Re: Batteries 12v or 16v

Tim, Is an ECU the same as an MSD box? If so MSD told me the 7AL2 that i use really responds well to the 16V!!!!!!!!!! Excuse my ignorance about the ECU box!..................Later, John
