Yikes, I've been here about a week, and already there's a "bounty" on me

I guess I could rig up an "aiming" adjustment on the exhaust, depending on which lane I draw. I don't see any rule against excessive smoke! And they'd never know if I smoked the tires while braking at the other end! (starts sketching design for exhaust aiming mechanism)...

Thanks for the kind words. I'll be watching my rearview mirror for you guys chasing me through the staging lanes

Just got the new National Dragster, interesting to see the Jeg's Sportsnationals results from Fontana (area where all this .90 racing stuff started). It was interesting to note that S/G and S/ST both had finalists with relatively low-mph cars (low 140's & high-120's respectively), and S/C was won by one of those 170+ mph doorslammers.

I'll just be glad to get my car back out there!

Regards,

Not NHRA or IHRA but DHRA does. Go to www.dhraonline.com check out hte rules for hte bracket racing. Just having fun here.

If the smoke from your exhaust is so thick that it blacks-out (interferes with the normal, proper operation of) the staging beams in either lane, you will be disqualified.

But note that it just refers to the staging beams - As long as I don't smoke them out (which will result in an invalid ET), I'm home free!

I've had some time runs in diesel brackets when I was in a very slow vehicle (I once raced a 22.6-second U-haul at a diesel national event), when the faster truck put down so much smoke on the top end that I had a hard time seeing the finish line. Maybe this IS the way to negate the high top end speeds of the .90 classes, safety be damned

Yea, went to the DHRA a couple of weeks ago at HRP. Man I was pickin black soot out of my nose for a week, LOL. Oh yea, I ran between 17.43 and 17.50 on 5 of my 7 time trials. Dialed a 17.48 ( I can hit the brakes, right) broke out with a 17.27 and 6 mph slower. You ever tried to slow an 11,000 lbs truck down from 75 mph?

Not 11,000 lbs, but countless times in a 7500-8000 lb truck! I ran the full NHRDA series in the western US this year, along with the NADM nationals in Bakersfield. The funniest part was when I tried racing my diesel Jetta instead of my F350 crew cab dually, and hit the brakes on the top end. I ended up letting the guy around me since I wasn't expecting to park on the finish line!

I got a 04 C4500 Chevy kodiak with a bully dog programmer and homemade 4" exhaust. Pulls 2 cars in a 48' trailer like a toyota pulling a jetski.
