ok, so B Leber lost in the first round in vegas and J Defrank in the third-I don't see Decker on the first round sheet at DRC, can anyone help me figure out where the points standings are now, heading into Pomona in 2 weeks??

Scott, Decker wasn't at Vegas, that's why you didn't see him on the sheet. I'm wondering the samething you are as to how the points stand after this past weekend. It looks like NHRA site has them posted already but I'm not sure.

Each driver in the remaining NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories is eligible to compete for points at eight Divisional and six National events. When a driver has competed in those eight Divisional and six National events, or the season ends at the Automobile Club of Southern California Finals, their best five Divisional and best three National finishes will constitute the driver's NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Championship points total.

I dunno-my rulebook says one thing, but the points page on the NHRA website seems to indicate another, that's why I can never keep up. I see NO national events listed for J Defrank on his points tally on line, yet he won Phoenix early in the year, and the rule book says you get to claim participation in 6 national events. OTOH, it appears they both are eligible for Pomona, and if what I read right now is correct, whoever goes the furthest there will determine it. yes? no? anyone else? and I like thinking about these guys way better than the pros anyhow!

Decker is all used up for points so he can only sit back and wait. DeFrank is bettering a 62 @ the divional and national meaning he has win 4 rounds before he starts counting. DeFrank needs 2 rounds of points to lock up the championship. Leber needs to win the Vegas divisional to go ahead of Decker by 1 point.

thanks Tim, this point thing is something I don't know how to keep up with. But from Div. 3 and a friend of the Decker gang I just was trying to keep up, also wanted this post to get people to get involved with the sportsman side of NHRA. I mean the pros aren't the only ones with a points battle going.

Tim-thanks for trying to help enthusiast/fans to try and understand-so-RIGHT NOW J DeFrank needs to win 4 rounds next weekend at vegas divisional, BEFORE he starts gaining more points towards the c/ship-or-the 2 rounds he won this past weekend count towards that? AND B Leber needs to win the vegas divisional next week to gain ground, BUT they both can also gainpoints in Pomona?? again, THANKS and please excuse my ignorance of how this works.
