You are right. It is confusing, but the NHRA Stock classification guide doesn't list the LS1 for 1998. They only list the LT1. The LS1 for Stock doesn't start until the 1999 model year even though they were putting them in the 1998 cars.

I have seen that alot also. My wife has a 98 with a LS1 in it. I know it a 98 cause I looked at the door tag and it was build somewhere around March of 98. She bought it new in 99. It's Z28 that has no options but t-tops. No pwr windows,locks,cruise, nothing.
