Unhappy GM pulls plug

GM pulled the plug on WJ and KJ. as of today. They are also eliminating some promotions.Wonder if that means NHRA/IHRA contingency payouts?
I'm sure I wont be seeing any class win $$ from Mother Mopar.

boys,

do you guys check your sources before you post stuff? I'm in a meeting in Detroit as I write this, sitting between the head of ACDelco and the head of ACDelco marketing, both of whom happen to be the ones responsible for paying the bills for KJ and others. To be polite Ed, your post is simply wrong, at least as of today.

You may be in Detroit but at Pamona at the finals it was announced that GM Performance Parts and AC Delco would no longer be supporting the Johnsons in 2009.
I was there!
My 2 Cents

Sounds like the good ship GM has a few leaks. Better work on that!

Please find out what you can about the new "white" Camaro that is supposedly coming out. John B. Fitzpatrick, Marketing Manager- Impala and Camaro for GM says their is no chance for this car. Also told the same thing by Thomas M. Gardner, Global Rear Wheel Drive, GMC Milford Proving Ground. Thanks.

GM PULLS BACK REINS

Warren and Kurt Johnson Notified Primary Manufacturer Support Rescinded …

The inevitable came Friday for Warren and Kurt Johnson when a phone call came from General Motors informing the front-running Pro Stock team their longtime factory backing would end immediately.

Both Warren Johnson’s GM Performance Parts and Kurt Johnson’s ACDelco programs expired at the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Where this leaves the teams for 2009 remains to be seen but the Johnsons clearly aren’t speaking to the media at this time.

The Johnsons are preparing for the 2009 season and a source close to the situation indicated the Johnsons will campaign at least one car albeit on a limited schedule.

The Johnsons aren't the only casualties of the massive marketing cut as CompetitionPlus.com has learned that Cory McClenathan's longtime GMC association has ended as well as the monetary support provided to Ken Black's KB Racing.

GM will make "significant reductions to advertising and promotions" as part of their sweeping budget cuts. The company's filing shows that advertising and promotion spending will account for $3.2 billion of its total $30.2 billion in structural costs this year.

According to an article published in Radio Advertising Bureau, by 2012, GM said it plans to cut $600 million in ad and promotions, reducing its expenditures to $2.6 billion as part of a move to reduce annual structural costs to $23.2 billion by that year.

The "BOYS" know more than the "Top Dogs of GM and Ac Delco" I guess,,,,,

Here is FACT just like stated from Competition Plus
http://www.competitionplus.com/index...=8696&Itemid=6

My personal opinion, If the Ac Delco and GM big shots (all big shots in everything, pep boys, mopar, sony and all) didnt make more in one hour than i do in 3-4 the Economy wouldnt be in the shape its in today. Greed from these big wigs got the economy where it is, Tell them thanks

Selling a junk new car for $50,000 that takes $3,000 to make using parts imported from china

I don't know if you guys have the same TV stations in Michigan as we do here in NY but our news is saying that GM is out of money and is asking the taxpayers to save their asses. I doubt that GM has a line item in their plan for sending Kurt and WJ a portion of their bailout package. If they do, this taxpayer will be pretty concerned.
