Why add weight to the counterweights, weight has to be removed

What do you do with the side opposite the journal (counterweight) if the total rotating weight (bob weight + the weight of the journal) is reduced. Forget the bobweight, that's just a function of reciprocating and rod big end weigh?????

The weight is removed opposite the journal, you gain from the reduced weight of the journal side and the reduced weight caused by the removal of weight from the counterweight to balance it..

That's why a lighter crankshaft is better than a heavy crankshaft.

Make sense.....

I hope so...….

I just sent in a 350 horsepower nitrous plate for approval in stock. I think that it has a good chance to be approved because it doesn't need an adapter to fit under a Q-Jet...

Just take a good look at what these people have done to my Stock Eliminator..

Take care Big boy

Ya know Mulry, statements like that are the reason (not the only reason) that I like you!

Turned down flange, lightening holes in all rod journals, pendulum type counterweights and bull nosed…….

I don't understand the NHRA logic.

Take a look and see what you think????????????
Bob, ya know how hard stock small-block cranks are to find! Pontiac stuff just falls out of trees!

Why not send a light Pontiac Crank in for approval before complaining. Somebody went to that trouble to get that approved. As hard as it would be to find Pontiac cranks, it may be easier to get approved.

I don't think that Callies would be interested in duplicating that SBC in to 400ci Pontiac piece..

Maybe they could sell 20 a year vs a SBC...They get the economy of scale

And this is a good reason for NHRA to NOT give Pontiac Racers an aftermarket crank why?

Does this question imply that NHRA won't approve a crankshaft for a Pontiac?
